Dr. Anastassios Pischitzis is a German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, and Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He advises technology-driven companies in all areas of intellectual property law, with a particular focus on life sciences and pharmaceutical innovations.
His technical expertise covers biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology and genetic engineering, life sciences, immunology, pharmacy, diagnostics, chemistry, and food chemistry.
He has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2000 – initially in Stuttgart, later in Frankfurt, and since 2006 as a partner in a patent law firm. He advises clients in application, examination, opposition, and nullity proceedings, supports them in patent litigation, and also represents them in design and trademark matters. Further areas of focus include employee invention law and licensing law.
His academic background includes studies in biology at the University of Cologne, with majors in biochemistry, genetics, and organic chemistry. He completed his diploma thesis at the Institute of Physiological Chemistry II of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in the field of molecular biology. He earned his doctorate at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Bern in cooperation with the Inselspital University Hospital Bern, focusing on gastroenterology.
Before entering the field of intellectual property, he worked as a research associate at the Institute of Pharmacology at the Hannover Medical School. His many years of experience in scientific research are reflected in his precise and well-founded approach to complex IP matters.
Dr. Pischitzis is actively involved in numerous professional bodies and associations, including the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the epi, GRUR, VPP, FICPI, and serves as an editor of the journal “Mitteilungen der Deutschen Patentanwälte”. He is also an engaged member of the House of Pharma & Healthcare and other scientific associations such as Science4Life.
